Tanzania Mbozi Iwezya

Tanzania Mbozi Iwezya

This coffee is from the Iwezya washing stations located in the southern highlands of Mbeya in western Tanzania. The stations sit at around 1620 meters above sea level and coffee is grown up to 2000 meters. This lot is part of the Farmer Business Groups (FBG), which is essentially a cooperative effort by smallholder coffee farmers to pool resources, processing and marketing of their crop. In Tanzania, where small holders may only produce a few bags of coffee, the FBG provides the opportunity to combine lots together to improve their output and efficiency.

Our roast is a mild / medium-body, bittersweet, with hints of cocoa and sugar that holds up well with cream.

This coffee is part of the 'Farm Gate' program from our friends at The Coffee Shrub, which means they have negotiated directly with the farmer, and guarantee prices that are at least 50%, and often more than 100%, over fair trade.
